Steampunk Knitters Chatelaines

Here's a few pieces that I've gotten done over the last few weeks.  Actually they were a joint piece between my wife and I.  So many ideas so little time.  These are some knitters chatelaines.  Turns out that during the Victorian period women had no pockets and ridiculously small handbags, so what was a lady to do when she wanted to take a small project along with her on an outing?

Answer: wear a chatelaine.

Here is a link to a well written article about the Victorian era chatelaine.

This first one is a black and silver one that my wife had me make for her Ravelry Swapee for a steampunk swap.  From left to right: folding scissors, mini-crochet hook, cloth covered measuring tape, stich markers and row counter, and small leather sheath for darning needles.

Here is a brown, brass, and copper one for my wife.  From left to right:
Stich markers and row counter, mini-crochet hook, cloth covered measuring tape, needle holder, and a yarn cutter.

Stay Steamy my Friends;)
