post-Teslacon III, but I have to admit that once again the con got me pretty jazzed up to make some steampunk stuff. Have several things in the works, one of the latest pieces even inspired a short story, but I'm still in the editing phase.
So here's something I just finished approximately 30 min ago:
My wife and I both adore the Girl Genius series so here is my take on a little clank. We've named this one "Sweetie" since it's a re-purposed sugar cube bowl.
The arms are posable and are from a little Helping Hands tool from Harbor Freight:
The eye is a googly eye from Jo-Ann Fabrics (the biggest googly eye I could find in the store, thank you very much). It's set into a stainless steel ring that is soldered to a fender washer and a 1/4 inch threaded rod. The soldering was by far the hardest part of this project (was not having a good soldering day today).
Have some ideas for a couple more little clanks, but they are still in the" I think this will work" and the "This might work but I'm not sure phase".
More later
